The Left hand tunnel tour took us through a relatively undeveloped part of the cavern along a dirt and rocky path using only candle lanterns for light. It reminded me of some of the spelunking I did growing up in Central Oregon. The big attraction, is the history that we got from the ranger and the feeling that people must have had 100 years ago. The cavern looks a lot different in flickering candle light than it does lit up by bright electric light. It helped me appreciate what a local cowboy, Jim White, accomplished in exploring, guiding individuals though a significant portion of the cavern. Jim White held several jobs including cowboy, guano miner, cave explorer, and park ranger for the National Park Service.
In the morning we took the Kings Palace tour which included three rooms Kings Palace, the childrens playhouse and the queens chamber. All three rooms contained spectacular geological features stalactites, stalagmites, drapes/cave bacon and flow stone
